Sea fishing related news and reports covering boat fishing from My Way with Gethyn Owen

Angler report 18th June 2017

Following a few days of fresh Southerlies, a drop in the wind handed myself and friend Tommy the opportunity to spend the day out on the briny out of Holyhead aboard Gethyn Owen’s charter boat, “My Way”.With the wind decreasing all day it turn out to be a scorcher and not only was the weather good but the fishing followed suit too. The day began by drifting over some of the roughest ground in the country, out in front and along the immense structure of the breakwater before trying around the famous ‘Stacks’. Although a little slower than normal due […]

Gorgeous weather today, a great crew, plenty to eat … we just needed fish! Drifting was slow, but anchor work was great fun with ray, huss, tope, spurdogs and then smoothies joining in our party. North East to North West

Another fun day today with a bunch of lads from the North East, who fancied a change of scenery and some new species. The weather thwarted our plans for the Deeps, but we managed to bag up with a mixed bag inshore and some good Smoothhound fishing. Everyone adding new species to their catch history, with Dean on fire and landing 10 himself including the heaviest which won a sweet pool of £80 A few spaces available this week, general fishing and some great Smoothhound fun Weds 21st June – General & Hounds – £40pp – 2 spaces Thurs 22nd […]

Old faces

Another good day afloat on 16th June. Weather was kind and fish obliging. A good number of hounds caught around the boat, again a below par average of around 8lb with a few doubles. Plenty of fish on the drift, ballans. cuckoos and pollack the mains. Tony came up trumps with a nice 3 pollack hook up, including the one pictured. That was actually a 5lber, he must have the fingers of a flipping yeti! Below a few pics of another great day aboard My Way … Below a list of available dates aboard My Way for the next two […]

Great couple days

Mid May to early June saw us sail for 22 days with extra evening trips, catching some great fish. This came to an abrupt halt just over a week ago as the winds swept in and forced to us cancel the 7 days in a row. Fortunately the winds abated this week, and we’ve had a ball for a couple days with over 50 hounds to the boat and plenty of wrasse and pollack over slack water. Great fun aboard My Way, tied up today (Thurs 15th) thanks to the winds, but a nice spell of weather on the horizon […]

Greys Strata Guideflex Trousers

In all my years fishing like the vast majority of anglers out there I’ve worn a good strong pair of jeans. Rainy days sees them covered with a waterproof bib and brace set, often with matching jacket. There are many outfits to choose from, with both the recreational and commercial sectors of fishing having an array of clothing to choose from. A few months back a friend showed me a pair of the Strata Guideflex Trousers from Greys and was raving about how light, waterproof and comfortable the trousers were, I think the phrase ‘just like wearing pyjamas’ had me intrigued […]
