Sea Scorprions

Guess the Sea Scoprion is not the prettiest fish we have in our waters, but they’re still a great looking fish all the same. This long spined sea scorpion was caught on Monday along with whiting, dogs, codling and huss. Its colours are quite striking with a full camouflage effect on its body.

Fun times

We’ve been enjoying more great fishing on the Menai Strait lately. Plump whiting, dogfish and a mixture of other species often two & three fish a drop. Surprising has been the number of small tope around. We’re picking a few up most trips. Additionally small smoothhound. These should hang around till late November, water temps allowing

First week afloat on the Menai

We’ve been back in our winter home of Port Dinorwic Marina on the beautiful Menai Strait for a week now, and already been making use of the sheltered waters and good fishing available. With 30mph winds blowing across North Wales we have sailed a few times and been rewarded with calm seas and a very steady stream of fish. Whiting and dogfish have made the bulk of catches, with most drops being rewarded with single, double and triple of shots of fish with some of the whiting already approaching the 2lb mark and being retained for supper. The odd codling […]

Return to the Strait – Oct 2019

Following a successful winter season 2018/2019 fishing from the beautiful Menai Strait, My Way 2 will return to Port Dinorwic Marina during the first week of October 2019. On the Strait we enjoyed some superb winter sport from a variety of different species. A mystical part of Wales that affords shelter and calm seas from all wind directions! Within the sheltered waters, most trips saw a succession of species including witing, dabs, codling, dogfish, huss, smoothhound, conger and an array of other species. Venturing outside when weather allowed we caught plenty of thornback rays and spurdog amongst others. This year […]

Fish will be the masters

The day came good. Struggled through the first few wrecks again on Friday despite heading in a different direction than previous days. But thankfully wreck number four decided to deliver. Plenty of pollack being caught, lower average than normal but a good few around the 8lb weight too.  To quote a friend recently “the fish will always be masters”  But it’s good to report the bad days and not just the good days Great laugh, sunshine, calm seas and a few good fish. Another enjoyable day afloat.   More photos in Gallery 253 Wreck Fishing 2020 Please message or call […]

Hands across the sea

Another hard day afloat on Wednesday. Plenty of fish showing but not feeding so well, the few we managed to winkle out coughing up sandeels. Was a pleasure to meet up with Kit Dunne today from Wicklow Boat Charters in Ireland. We’ve often discussed meeting up in the Irish Sea, two charters from two countries and having a fish together. We’ve been friends for many years and met up initially on the International Match fishing scene. Kit proudly representing Ireland and myself likewise for the Welsh National Team. After a few cancellations with weather we managed it at last. We’re […]
