Pure Fishing species hunt

A good mixed bag today for the final day for our June competition sponsored by Pure Fishing (UK) Ltd. My Way 2 regular Jeff Eve the eventual winner in the day with 100 points and also the overall winner for the month of June winning himself a brand new Shakespeare Fishing Agility Tipster rod and a PENN Fishing 5500 Spinfisher reel. Wrecking crew

A little change from the usual for us on Weds 27th June as we went looking at a few new wrecks.   Wreck Fishing is something I only took part in on the odd occasion as an angler. And it’s something I’ve continued in my career as a skipper But every now and then it’s a great change and when the fish are feeding it can be great fun. We went exploring a few new wrecks to us on Weds and the fish certainly played their part. More photos in Gallery 233

Angler report 23rd June 2018

Went out on My Way 2 with my dad. Started off on the smoothies and peeled a crab and sent it down and Gethyn called it as a dog first chuck😂 So followed his words of wisdom and managed to get a 14lb 6oz smoothie. All lads on the boat had atleast 1 smoothound with another lad having one of 25lb 5oz Then off for some drifting with small Pollock and wrasse coming up and then we found some mackeral. Monster hound

Lewis Roberts on his first fishing trip managed to hook into and land this fantastic 25lb 1oz Smoothhound earlier today. The hound, only 1oz short of the welsh record played Lewis well for 20mins before landing in the net. A quick weigh and photographs she was gently released superb fishing.

Weather window

Break in the weather and an enjoyable day afloat with Halton SAC. Plenty of hounds caught, however all small averaging 8lb. Dogs and a good number of huss on the mussel beds. Drifting was slow, a few pollack and wrasse together with various mini species. Managed to get Norman his Cuckoo wrasse, wonderfully coloured male specimen More photos in Gallery 232
