20lb hound

With a good  number of peeler crabs still being picked, we decided to start yesterdays general fishing trip with a crack at the smoothies – we traditionally stop fishing for them with any real effort the end of June.

But the hunch proved right and the hounds were still around and in great numbers.

We managed over 20 in a few hours, with the best falling to Jonathon who joined the exclusive hound club with the stunning 20lb 5oz specimen photographed below.

On the drift we had countless numbers of inshore pollack and coalfish. Nothing big in comparison to last weeks wrecking trips, but a good number to 3lb going home for the table.
