Great day afloat today with Halton SAC for the first of our 2019 Pure Fishing fun competitions. Sheltered from the 30mph NW winds the Menai Strait was lovely and calm plus fished well as the 8 Anglers battled out for the first prize.
Fishing was never going to rewrite any records, but a steady flow of whiting and codling, together with dabs, dogs and a variety of mini species kept everyone focused on the win.
In total, the lads caught 212 fish in the 4hr match. The battle for top spot was hard fought, with Norman and Andy matching each other fish for fish for the duration of the competition. Norman the victorious winner with 112 points to Andys 106. From a selection of reels available, Norman claimed a PENN Spinfisher SSV5500 as his prize.
Interestingly 70 of the fish caught were codling, sadly all of them had barely enough fish to make a Captain Birdseye Fish Finger!
Guess that’s fishing. Great fun on sunday with a good bunch of lads.
Below a small report from Norman at Halton SAC
Halton SAC booked a 5hr species hunt today and what a great day we had aboard My Way 2, with Gethyn Owen and Marks Dolben, wind up to 38mph not problem in the Straits there was hardly a ripple on the water, we had plenty of fish from the start to the finish, species caught on the day, codling, whiting, dogfish, dabs, poor cod, Pouting and long spinned scorpion fish. Plenty of hot brews and banter enjoyed by all. Big thank you to Gethyn Owen for a great day and a very generous prize
