Its been nearly two weeks now since Storm Emma caused destruction in Holyhead Marina. Its been a tough time for everyone involved, truly heartbreaking! Ive said often that the words of support and kindness shown to us all and in particular the three charter boats has been very humbling and overwhelming, thank you.
Aaron, Gareth and myself have vowed to come through this together and build Holyhead up once again and make the port an even stronger angling destination.
After lifting My Way from the water last weekend, she was surveyed and declared a Total Constructive Loss, it saddened me to read this, but also confirmed what I thought was the inevitable.
Today I made a trip down south to view a possible replacement for My Way. Thankfully it wasn’t a wasted journey and My Way 2 will soon be in Holyhead and ready for the coming season.
My Way 2 is a 35ft Offshore 105 with Iveco 420hp, with a large spacious deck area to fish from. But more importantly, she has an oven, hob and kettle.
Our woes are not over as we still need to look at immediate berthing, fuelling and pick up points, all taken for granted to a certain extent at Holyhead Marina. We’re gonna sit down over the next few days and work out a plan of attack and hopefully running trips by the start of next month.
Again, thank you to everyone for you kind words of support, they are helping us all get through this.
