MAD

Always a fun day afloat with MAD-SAC, a great bunch of lads that fish all over the UK. Whatever the weather if they can get out, we go fishing and catch what we can. Last weekend the weather and fishing came top trumps.  After a misty start caching plenty of mackerel to supplement our frozen baits, we headed off to Holyhead Deep. The mist cleared, the sun came out and the tope and huss started biting the baits. Plenty of pack tope to 24lb for everyone onboard. Great fun More photos in Gallery 252 Please share:

Getting afloat

Weather has been trying our patience lately, we’ve cancelled far more than we’ve sailed over the past week as the current run of poor weather continues. Sandwiched between high winds we have been able to grab a few days afloat with some good results. Earlier this week we had a run around the island in search of rays. We caught a good number of thornbacks together with huss, mackerel, whiting dogfish and others. Tope have been feeding for us too in Holyhead Bay. A few drifts to start the day to gather some fresh baits to supplement the frozen mackerel […]

We snuck out

The weather hasn’t been doing us any favours this week, we managed to sneak out only once. Fishing wasn’t the best given the winds preceding our sail, but we did manage a good mixed bag including a couple tope and some rays to keep spirits high. Hopefully the weather will settle down soon and allow for some more great fishing More photos in Gallery 251 Please share:

Rays and sunshine

Sunshine, calm seas, a great crowd of anglers and plenty of tope. Today was sorted! Damn them tope, they failed to show. Fortunately we sandwiched our assault on the tope with a try for rays, they played ball with a good number to the boat, nothing too big but enough to keep all happy and species cards photographed. I seldom get the chance to wet a line, but managed to have a fish myself today, chilled and relaxed in some superb weather. Cheers chaps More photos in Gallery 251 Please share:
