Been fishing

We’ve enjoyed some good trips lately.

This winter, the Menai Strait has fished extremely well. As I always say, it won’t set the world alight, winter for us is a case of shorter trips, catch a few fish and have a laugh with fellow anglers.

Whiting tend to make up the bulk of the catch, with dogs, huss, dab and mini species the other catches as we fish through December into January. With the right tide and conditions we also target conger eels.

After a morning filling the buckets with some good sized whiting, we headed off to a deep hole for the turn of tide in the hope of landing some huss and conger. Fortunately both came out to play, plenty of huss to 10lb and a dozen strap eels between 10 & 18lb.

Calm sea, sunshine and great fun. A lovely Saturday afloat.
