After a week of high winds it has been good to get back afloat and enjoy some settled seas and good tope fishing. The tope have been around in numbers both in Holyhead Deep and the shallower waters around our coast. We’ve enjoyed sunshine, great crew and great fishing. More photos in Gallery 276

Dolphins
Great day afloat today, loads of pollack and wrasse drifting around South Stack. Anchor in the deeps provided plenty of tope to 25lb with a few huss and the odd dog. Decided then on an inshore wreck to end and rewarded with pollack to 4lb, codling, coalies and mackerel. Highlight has to be this large pod of Dolphins putting on an amazing display for us

Another highly enjoyable day down the Llŷn today. After Saturdays brilliant tope fishing hopes were high today. Sadly a lack of fresh mackerel hindered our quest with only one small 15lber for Calamity. Still, a good mixed bag with black bream reading the script and offering some good sport to our time afloat. Our recent trip down the Llyn peninsular in search of bream and tope started with an hr drifting in 6ft of water on Trefor pier, adding mini species for those searching out as many different types of fish in a year – common blenny, tompot blenny, corkwing wrasse, rock cook Even small fish can be such great fun

Climbing tides have kept us inshore this week, drifting and at anchor for a variety of species. Lynda had booked My Way 2 as a birthday treat for her life long friend Kates birthday, two ladies who love their fly fishing, they’ve caught salmon around the world and have also fished & trekked through Borneo, now wanted a proper stab at inshore fishing from Holyhead as they enjoyed a weeks break on the island. We caught, we laughed and had a brilliant time fishing and chatting. More photos in Gallery 275

Favoured a late sail on Monday to miss the LW slack, but with 15 – 20mph forecast from early afternoon, we set off at 7am instead. First wreck – drift set, fish hooked, started well with a couple 6lb landed. Deteriorated thereafter – plenty of 3-4lb nothing more. Decided to use the slack for a move. Second Wreck – drift set and again straight into fish! Phew! Two drifts later two fat mofo seals arrived and took advantage of the easy pickings. Couple drifts more we again fed the cute lovely seals and decided to move on. […]

We all had a brilliant day afloat last Saturday, these guys caught fish – 12lb the biggest for Tomos. Will at only 6 years old – fished an 8ft flowing trace, dropped over the side, caught fish, never snagged the wreck, never tangled his trace ( all without help, he just got on with it ) and then helped dad fillet on the way in. 2 adults, 1 jnr and 3 young guys – the youngsters would shame the angler in any man! It really was been a great day fishing More photos in Gallery 275
