Continuing a look back at 2017, part two covers July to Dec aboard My Way. Our first trip of July saw some lovely weather and some mixed fishing both inshore and in Holyhead Deep. As the weather continued to play ball, more sorties into the Deeps were rewarded with pollack on the wreck and some great tope action at anchor. Amongst the catches we had plenty of wrasse and pollack to test the light gear with some cracking action from the spurdogs in the Deep. Staying in July and climbing tides we looked for more rod bending action closer to […]

Review of 2016 aboard My Way
Our pictorial review of 2016, interspersed with a few anecdotes of the fishing aboard My Way through the year. End of February is when My Way usually refloats after her winter maintenance and tender loving care. The fishing can often be as mixed as the weather, with some days producing far more than others. The inshore fishing can be quite hectic at times, with dogs, whiting, codling and Huss the mainstay of a fairly decent mixed bag of around 10 species. Thornback rays often a double figure addition to the mix of species caught. Holyhead Deeps received the odd visit […]

High winds ripped through much of the UK last winter and Anglesey certainly wasn’t let off. Sadly these storm force weather fronts cancelled our first few trips, but also left us in awe of the power and destruction Mother Nature can inflict when she so wishes. These photos are from the Rocky Coast, showing the barrage of abuse suffered by Holyhead Breakwater in its on-going mission to keep the port safe from destructive storm fronts. We finally managed a few days afloat during the second week of February, armed with a group of regulars each trip was always going to […]

MARCH January and February of last year, saw high winds and some pretty atrocious weather conditions blight most of the UK. We had our fair share in our small corner. It wasn’t until March 01st, St Davids day that My Way set sail for the first time in 2014. On 07th February My Way was re-launched following a 4week stint in the boat yard having some well-earned TLC following the rigours of the previous year afloat. The next few days were spent completing a few odd jobs before getting the kit ready for our first trip of the 2012 season. This trip was on Sunday 12th February, with a 30ft tide and 8 novices and 1 angler; it was going to be an interesting day afloat for early February. The big tides would keep us inshore, but a pleasant enough day was on the cards with a few different […]
