In search of tope

Spring tides this past week, one day we took a run down the Llŷn Peninsula. Target was tope, sadly they never showed in numbers, only one landed on the turn of tide.

But the lads had a plan, heaviest fish and species hunt pools seeing rig and bait changes come into play.

At anchor, we had the ever giving dogfish along with mackerel, huss, dragonette, red gurnard, strap conger, a few small smoothies, tiny corkwings, the lonesome tope and a good number of small black bream.

On the way back to port we had a few drifts and added ballan wrasse, coalfish, pollack and poor cod to our day.

Weather was superb, the crew were great,
Top marks to Jonathan, who took both pools with the heaviest fish and most species (9)
