Since late October 2018 we have been enjoying some good fishing from Port Dinorwic marina on the Menai Strait. The fishing has been consistent throughout our time with plenty of fish and species being caught regularly. However we are also looking forward to a return to Holyhead.
My Way 2 will be heading back to Holyhead the first week of April, all ready and eager to catch up with the quality fishing on offer from our more regular sailing point.
Following the devastation caused by Storm Emma in March 2018, we needed the following month to get off to a tremendous start and thankfully for all onboard, it didn’t disappoint.
Inshore the fishing grew daily, with a great amount of species including some light tackle sport with coalies, some to 4lb and others 1, 2 or 3 at a time.
North West of Holyhead into the deep rough ground and the spurdogs were around in great numbers for the vast majority of trips, with spurs 15lb+ a regular catch for all onboard.
To the south, Holyhead deep threw up some early tope mixed in with the big spurs and huss.
Around the coast into Trearddur or further down to Caernarfon bay, the rays were on the feed.
Most of them thornbacks of various sizes with a few spotted rays too.
Drifting the shallower rocks, we some lively sport with pollack, coalfish, wrasse plus other species
Over the years we have helped out with many tagging schemes, helping record a wide range of data for the likes of spurs, hounds, huss and tope. Laura from Wobby Shark Savers joins us regularly, last April again tagging spurdogs, she’ll be returning in April 2019 to continue her hard work.
Easter and we tend to run a number of shorter 4hr trips specifically for junior anglers and novices to the sport. Fishing, chocolate eggs and fun.
