With the ever-increasing inclement weather, days afloat are becoming far less predictable it was always an ambition of mine to relocate My Way to the sheltered comfort of the Menai Straits for the winter period.
However truth being besides vast waters available inside the Straits, she lacked the speed required to navigate the tides and distance when wanting to fish outside from either entrance. Now, similarly to our trips of late from Holyhead there is far more available for anglers with the speed enjoyed aboard My Way 2.
Winter fishing in and around the Straits has always been productive, however sometimes overlooked in favour of other destinations. Together with some of the established fleet, we can hopefully set the Straits alight once again and enjoy some winter sport in a part of Wales that affords sheltered and calm seas from all wind directions!
There is a good array of species to be claimed with big whiting & plump dabs, a good winter run of codling, plus doggies, congers, huss, countless mini species plus more available when fishing inside. Weather permitting the option is also available to run outside and onto the broken ground and wrecks to the north for another mixed bag including eels and spurdogs.
To the south and in particular late winter and early spring, the ray fishing can be highly successful with plenty of thornbacks with spotted and blonde rays mixed in.
Our berth will be at Port Dinorwic Marina for the winter season, with various pick up points along the length of the Straits available to us. We have the ability to choose from Port Dinorwic Marina itself, Caernarfon, or Menai Bridge & Beaumaris piers; all depending on the fishing and winds forecast
My Way 2 licensed for 10 anglers and 2 crew, prices for the winter period will be
outside £350 for 8 hrs full charter or £40pp
inside £250 for 8 hrs full charter or £30pp
Bait & tackle available as normal if required
All trips booked are on the understanding that should we be unable to fish outside the Straits with poor weather, we will be fishing within the safety of the Menai Straits at the reduced costs as detailed.
With a winter layup for a few modifications and an annual service for My Way 2 planned for this coming November our winter diary is open from 01stDecember through till 31stMarch.
