Been a while …

With poor weather the end of Sept, a week away and relocating to the Menai Strait it’s been a while since we last set sail. A good forecast saw us set sail early this morning from Port Dinorwic, offshore to the wrecks. The morning was interesting. Plenty of fish showing but only being caught by the two Daves! Everyone else either lost fish partway up or snagged the wreck! No names of course … Slack water came and thankfully the odd fish still came aboard, a few wrecks and a run of tide later everyone started to remember how to catch […]

Shark Fishing

Fantastic day last Thursday shark fishing. We managed to raise two into our chum trail. The video ( thanks to Graham ) the first to appear, but no hook up. An hr later a bigger porbeagle hit a bait and stripped line at a rate of knots. As the wind picked up to 20knots, it made for hard work for the crew to keep in contact with the shark whilst I manoeuvred the boat in between swells. A 90minute tussle, a run around the boat, 4 leader touches and finally we could take a few snaps and release after recovery […]

Species Hunting

It’s not all about big fish, searching out all manner of species both big and small is great fun. We had a fantastic time fishing around the Pier wall in Trefor last week searching for mini species.  The fish were plentiful. 8ft of clear water we watched in awe as the fish swam below us in great numbers.  Common Blenny, Rock Goby, Corwking Wrasse, Lesser Weaver, small Pollack and small Whiting. Brilliant fun on very light gear and tiny hooks. More photos in Gallery 271

Spring tides

The spring tides last week saw our fishing restricted to closer inshore marks. Drifting wasn’t as good as I had hoped, both the wrasse and small pollack were few. Anchor worked proved better, with a plentiful amount of rays, huss a few small tope and many others.  More photos in Gallery 271

Busy Sept

We’ve enjoyed some great weather of late, limiting our updates as we’re out fishing. A trip offshore earlier in the month resulted oil a another bumper day of freezer filling for the guys aboard My Way 2. Boxes filled with fish, mainly pollack with the odd codling and coalfish too. Nice shot

Awesome photo from Jonathon Peers recently on our return from another successful trip into Caernarfon Bay, rays the main target with gurnards, whiting, dabs, tope, doggies, huss and more making an appearance.  The spring tides curtail adventures on the wrecks or Holyhead Deep, but allow us a great time species hunting.  Bookings for 2022 are well underway with certain dates & tides filling up quickly.  Please email or call 07971 0924046 to discuss your 2022 time afloat aboard My Way 2

Weather Window

After over a week stuck ashore it was great to hear the sea beneath us last Saturday. Thankfully the fish played ball. We had fish every drift and on every wreck, fish boxes full with Peter taming the best at just over 14lb. Really enjoyable day with a great crew of misfits. More photos in Gallery 270
