New Braid and Line spooler
It is important to check your braid / mono regularly through each session, ensuring no abrasion issues that may result in a lost fish! We look to renew the braid on our reels every year, or sooner if need be. We much prefer braid over mono especially when drifting over deepwater wrecks off Anglesey, the low diameter allows for less drag in the tide, so less lead required. Berkley and Spiderwire are long established as market leaders in braid, with Berkley Fireline regarded as the best in the modern Superlines for over 2 decades. A reputation for being strong and […]

Busmans Holiday
Having been all but sidelined by the weather during or trip to Scotland last week we received a last minute call from our skipper there was a small change in wind and we had the potential for a day afloat. Like myself Paul, likes to explore new marks and despite 25knots forecast, a new mark with potential was a possibility. We we’re invited aboard Sea Dog cost free to help prosper and determine the potential. Loaded with bait that we had caught aboard My Way 2 we set off around the coastline eventually arriving at our intended mark. 180 & […]

Good weekend
We’ve enjoyed a good weekend afloat, mixed fishing on the drift and at anchor. Saturday, we had a run around the coast rewarded with more rays than we could count, along with plenty of huss and a selection of smaller species at anchor. Drifting we caught pollack, ballan wrasse and cuckoo wrasse. Sunday was another mixed day, this time staying more local and having our first try at the smoothhounds. The hounds were a little slow, with only two boated best at 16lb and another few lost. Plenty of species were caught by Meltham & Diatric SAC during another of […]

Varied fishing
Weather has been testing our patience over the past couple weeks. Wind blowing hard fo ra few days, then dropping off for one or two, then back to blowing again. Our days out have all been different, with general fishing, ray fishing and a day exploring new wrecks for our trips later this year. Some great results most days with plenty of fish being caught. Wednesday Woes
High hopes for last Weds and our trip with the Mighty Mersey Hounds. We were joined by Laura from Wobby Shark Savers, looking to tag as many spurdog and huss as we could muster. The day didn’t really shape … fish & species count was good for April with dog, whiting, huss, spurdog, ballan, cuckoo, pollack, coalfish, poor cod, strap eel all making a show. The spurdogs sadly being a solitary shark in that count. Was still a good day, far too many laughs and stories that will remain on My Way Really great bunch of guys […]

First trip for HH 2022
Had a good first trip out of Holyhead Last Sunday with regulars from Yorkshire angling club Meltham & District. Drifting was steady with a number of small pollack being caught with the odd pouting and codling. With dogs, whiting and small huss at the inshore anchor. Despite the big tie wee tried our luck in Holyhead Deep and managed to snare a few more huss and spurdogs. The largest spur for Gary at 14lb on his first ever trip with the club.

Back in Holyhead
Lovely 28mile run today relocating My Way 2 back to Holyhead for another great season afloat. Took almost as long to do the first 8miles as it did the remaining 20 punching a big Menai spring tide in full flow 🙈.

Rays & spurdogs
Fantastic time back aboard My Way 2 last Sunday, glorious sunshine and a superb crew of misfits. Weather gods looked after us as we caught a good number of rays and spurdogs, along with doggies, dabs, small huss and a lonely whiting. Great fun, now looking forward to our return to Holyhead for our 2022 season this coming Friday.
