Enjoyable but hard day afloat today. Winds gusting 25mph put the lads in awkward conditions for the 2nd day of our July Pure Fishing species competition. Plenty of fish at anchor, dogs in particular but also a good few huss and smoothhounds. Fortunately the weather backed off for the last couple hours and we were able to spread our wings more on the drift.
Species for the day consisted of dogfish, hound, huss, dab, poor cod, codling, spotted ray, tub gurnard, ballan, pollack and cuckoo. An acceptable return in the seas encountered.
Just over 300 fish caught in the day with My Way regular Keith Heaton the day winner with a very credible 130points.
A worthy winner but success for July falls to Jonathon Hudd with his 164 points from day one winning him the superb prize of a PENN Battalion 20lb class boat rod matched with a PENN Fathom 15 star drag reel.
Needless to say we ate well, thanks to everyone that brought munchies, especially Jeffers for the malteaser cheesecake 👍
