We had some glorious sunshine and calm seas today for our first December Fun Competition on the Menai Strait, generously sponsored once again by the worlds largest tackle company Pure Fishing.
A mid morning sail had everyone ready and chomping at the bit to get started. Our first anchor at Pwllfanog saw a few whiting, pout and a huss hit the score sheet and produce beaming smiles.
Not quite as many fish as we wanted. A move further down the Menai towards Bangor pier gave us a steady stream of whiting a few dogs and a bonus thornback ray for Kev, who’s smile was second only to one.
Mid afternoon and another move back towards Port Dinorwic again saw a flow of whiting come to the boat. Keith was doing well. Bite after bite but still keeping his head down, helping others avoid the glare of his commanding lead.
As the comp came to an end, Keith had gnawed his way into the first place and secured the win from his fellow anglers.
A tremendous day afloat, fishing not as tip top to what we enjoy normally, but a fun and riotous time afloat with a great crew.
