Drift & Deeps

Superb couple days recently, drifting and then at anchor in Holyhead Deep, making the most of the very small neap tides.    Plenty of fish feeding around South Stack, ballans, cuckoo, pollack and others. Holyhead deep fished superbly, with a plentiful amount of pack tope and huss. Excellent day afloat with another great bunch of anglers. More photos in Gallery 270

More fillets

The excellent sport continues offshore, with the wrecks alive with fish. Pollack are the mainstay of our wreck fishing with specimens to 13lb in recent trips. The odd cod also makes an appearance, with coalfish and ling on occasions too. More photos in Gallery 270

Liferaft Found

Heading offshore last Sunday we noticed something floating in the distance. As we got closer it became apparent it was a discharged emergency life raft.  On inspection, it looked a little torn in places, but generally in good condition, no weed growth and very clean, it had the door open and survival pack in tact inside! We notified Holyhead Coast Guard, gave them as many details as we could and then awaited the arrival of Trearddur Bay Lifeboat to take control of the situation.  Below is taken from Trearddur Bay Lifeboat Facebook page Must admit we did fear the worst […]

Bank Holiday Fun

When the sun shines and seas are calm life always seems a better place!   Lovely couple days afloat over the Bank Holiday, a few laughs with a good crew but equally as important a good number of fish on every drift. Average size was below par at 4-6lb, but we also managed a good few doubles with the best at 14lb 2oz for Cheshire angler Graham Chadwick. Oh the weather

Going to bed the night before a trip with 5-10mph forecast is ace. Waking up to 15-20mph is not so ace. Epic day afloat, wind, rain, some good laughs oh and more rain and wind .. and a lumpy sea. You think you’re having a slow day when compared to the norm when sun and sea favour your adventures. Then it comes to filleting and it’s apparent we did catch a few Fun time with a fun crowd Photos from the August available in Gallery 258, Gallery 259 & Gallery 260 Bookings for 2021 aboard My Way 2 are well underway […]

What a month

When the storms roll in it’s easy to take a downward view on the month that’s gone. But to be fair, we’ve enjoyed some great fishing.   Sorting through photographs and looking back through the month it is pretty safe to say we’ve enjoyed a great time afloat sailing between the inclement weather. Working through the tides, there have been some superb fish to be caught both inshore and off – deeps or wrecks, it’s been a pretty enjoyable time.   It niggles a skipper when anglers thrust a fish for the camera … hold it close, it’s a great […]

Ding a Ling

Thanks to Kev Howarth for this photo Great fun yesterday following Storm Ellens presence the end of last week. Big tide so we opted half a day on the drift and the other at anchor. Great fun, plenty caught on each mark and a good mixed bag of species, with Micky getting his species hunt account off to a great start Bookings for 2021 aboard My Way 2 are well underway with diary and tides available  COVID19 Information pack

Pysgod I Bawb ( Fish For Everyone )

The weather has really tried to stop our plans recently. High winds yesterday and Storm Kyle moving in late today left us with a 6hr window this morning and a 30ft tide to head out and catch some fish. Fun time afloat with old friend Julian Lewis Jones and Ryland Teifi recording for their new S4C fishing program Pysgod I Bawb ( Fish For Everyone). Look out for the series this coming September to see if we were successful. Bookings for 2021 aboard My Way 2 are well underway with diary and tides available  COVID19 Information pack

That’s Fishing!

Been a strange few days, fishing not as good as anticipated, or expected to be fair given the good results of late. Deeps continues to fish below par, plenty of huss, few small tope but no spurs. Yesterday’s wrecking was slow to start, lack of tide and a cross wind making it a struggle.  We came good on the end though with a some decent fish to fillet on the way home.
