Ouch!

Fun day afloat Friday with a great crowd of individual anglers. Couple sessions in Holyhead Deeps provided a bounty of spurdogs and a good number of huss too. Drifting found a great number of early pollack and a few ballan wrasse. Nothing too big, but a few keepers making a fish supper this evening. I wanted to try out a new rod and reel combo and managed to snare 4 spurdog for myself, but soon packed that in. Net skip, have you got the net, net please! Monster spurdog

Another great day afloat on Thursday, good mixed bag of fish at anchor and drifting. We also continued with our tagging exercise with Wobby Shark Savers, plenty of spurdogs weighed, tagged and released and another 30 plus released without tagging so not to keep them on the deck for too long waiting. Belle of the ball was Keith Heaton plenty of spurs to his credit and best a new personal best at whopping 20lb 13oz. More photos in Gallery 241

Holyhead Marina, My Way and over 80 other boats were destroyed by the sheer force of the Mother Nature.  The perfect storm you could argue. Strong winds and big spring tides combined to produce monstrous waves that ripped through everything they came against.  It was a difficult day for everyone involved around Holyhead Marina.  However Storm Emma did not win. With kindness and support of so many, we battled through the tears and heartache to rebuild GO Angling.  Searching through the internet, calls to various contacts eventually the […]

Still, with a fully booked boat, when the weather allowed we managed to sail whenever possible and locate some sport for our crews. A few days into the month and the weather settled nicely for us to take a trip out to Holyhead Deep, sights set firmly on spurdogs and maybe a few tope. We were’t disappointed with a good number of spurs and tope coming to […]
