Summer cod

Following the harsh weather of the weekend, the winds abated on Monday enough for us to head 20miles off for our latest wreck fishing adventure. Fortunately for everyone onboard the weather and fish all combined to give us a fantastic days fishing. As soon as we stopped the wreck gave up fish for every angler on every drift. Single and double shots of fat cod averaging 7lb with the biggest weighing in just short of 10lb, keeping us busy. A couple weeks ago this wreck in particular was full of plump pollack to 12lb, today the cod were on the […]

Weekend weather

Weather tried its best this weekend to cancel our enjoyment. With strong NW winds our planned days general fishing and a venture to Holyhead Deep was touch and go. Saturday we managed to sail off a few miles to the southern edge of Holyhead Deep and were reward with a good number of pollack to 5lb on a wreck and then pack tope and huss at anchor. On Sunday the stronger wind and more westerly direction cancelled plans for the Deep so we headed down the coast in search of rays. We caught a good few, nothing big average size […]

Bass

We sadly don’t see that many bass in a season, just the odd one. Despite so many attempts to locate them in some ideal waters I think the lack of baitfish such as sandeel really limits our chances. So It was lovely to see this little specimen over the weekend caught by local angler Dylan. Please share:

That’s Fishing …

A slow morning came good today. Inshore drifting and anchor was exceptionally slow for us, needing a little rethink for the afternoon. A run out to the edge of Holyhead Deep rewarded us with a countless number of pollack on the drift, averaging 6lb with the best just shy of 8lb few small codling and coalfish too. With a stint at anchor seeing a good few spurdogs too. More photos in Gallery 249 Please share:
