Bounty on the wrecks

Another great day afloat yesterday. As this brief video of the sounder shows, this particular wreck was stacked high with fish.  Mixed bag with pollack to 13lb, cod to 6lb and a few small coalfish. Plenty of fish every drift, but the average size down compared to recent weeks at around an 8lb average, but still great sport and cool boxes of fillets going home. COVID & Fishing

We had a last minute cancellation for today … COVID19 has a lot to answer for, I appreciate the world we find ourselves dealing with is madness. But 14hrs before we’re due to sail, letting me know you cant make the crew ‘because of the situation’ isn’t fair. As a small business that has been locked down for nearly 3 months and unsupported by the UK & Welsh Government grant aid … I get it.  But let me know, given time we could’ve filled the shortfall and enjoyed a day together. Thankfully, a few quick texts and a post on […]

Big Fat Pollack

It was a lumpy start to yesterdays trip offshore in search of some fish for the table. A brisk North West wind giving us a lumpy ride out to our chosen destination.  However the fishing was with it, the wreck was stacked with some quality pollack. Very well conditioned fish with an average size over 10lb for all 5 anglers fishing with us.  With the fish boxes full after a few hours, we headed in early. Stopped aoutside the harbour and had an enjoyable our filleting the catch ready for the table.  More photos in Gallery 258 COVID19 Information pack […]

Weather doesn’t always spoil the day

Last Monday we had planned a day offshore wreck fishing, sadly 25-30mph winds in the morning decreasing after lunch stopped that plan in its tracks. A couple regulars determined to still go fishing and knowing we had relative shelter in the lee of the breakwater and Rocky Coast suggested that we could possibly have a fish close inshore and hunt a few species out.  So a new plan was hatched and 4 of us set sail, for what turned out to be a fantastic fish filled time afloat with a few laughs thrown in for good measure. First few hours […]
