Species hunters

Had a great trip last Sunday chasing a variety of fish with a group of species hunters from Scotland We managed to add a good number of individual firsts for the year … … as they challenged each other to catch the most. Main event for the day was an anchor in Holyhead Deep. The Deep didn’t disappoint with numerous large spurdogs and huss More photos in Gallery 247           Please share:

Wrecked

After a couple days tide up with the strong NE winds it was nice to get back afloat last Friday and this time on the wrecks. We drifted 5 wrecks and all held pollack, some more than others, with an 8lb average, a few coalies and cod mixed in. A great way to kick off our wrecking trips for 2019 More photos in Gallery 247 For more information on Wrecking aboard My Way 2, please click here Please share:

Deep Joy

Holyhead Deep delivered again today, pack tope, huss and a plentiful amount of big spurdog. Amongst the haul Pete managed his first tope of the year with a lovely 25lber from 180ft. Keith too caught numerous spurs once he sorted his rig 😉 and finished eating birthday cake! Another fab weekend

Superb weekend afloat. Yesterday we stayed inshore with a good mixed bag from both anchor and drifting. Plenty of pollack, wrasse, coalies and a great amount of large huss at anchor.  Today we sailed early to make the tide in Holyhead Deep. Our reward was a terrific amount of double figure sharks. It was a case of one or two each drop, the majority spurdogs with a few small tope and big huss too. The largest spurdog a superb 21lber.  They say things come in threes!  Firstly my deck wash pump decided it didn’t want to work for me anymore, […]

Weather

Can anyone remember the weather last June 🤔 how good was that? The last few weeks have been hard work and last Friday & Saturday even more so. Winds above forecast and yesterday especially the fish in hiding! Saturday a typical example of how absolutely poor forecasting has become. Yesterday evening every forecast bar none giving 16-22mph S winds. “Let’s do it” my call, lumpy couple hrs to start, tide change then a lovely day. 28-38mph was what greeted us as we prepared for the day. Chatting with Gareth from Spindrift Charters before sailing we both suggested unprintable words to do […]
