Pure Gerrys

A day afloat with our sponsors Pure Fishing (UK) Ltd last Tuesday and joined with guys from Gerrys Fishing in Morecambe. A stiff North Easterly breeze hampered our day afloat. Still we managed a few different species and over 25 smoothhounds kept us busy at anchor. Pure Fishings Steve Souter and Pete Gibson with small hounds caught on light gear. Chris Foote from Gerrys Fishing with one of a few hounds he caught that day More photos in Gallery 231

Crazy day with the crazy gang

Superb day last Thursday aboard ‘My Way 2’. Smashed the long standing boat record of 48 with 74 hounds between five of us in little over 5hrs fishing! Topped off with Dave Barham landing his second biggest hound at 23lb 8oz – all on lure rods and 6-12lb rods. Superb fishing and great fun. Our second day we headed around the coast in search of rays and huss, again we managed to hook into plenty. Look out for a series of articles in forth coming issued of Sea Angler magazine. Girls can fish

Local angler Sdeff only started fishing a couple years ago but has shown herself to be quite a natural.  One trip last month on her first time drifting a wreck, showing the lads how to do it with a fish every drift bar one. So bad was the humiliation being suffered by the guys, Nathan asked Sdeff to rig his lure up for him to see if that would help.  At anchor, plenty of small tope and a few huss taking the baits and putting up a great fight from 150ft of water

Cheeky grin, cheeky smile

Great weekend of sport, the weather was fantastic and the crews each day up for the challenge. Pollack, ballan and cuckoo wrasse were the mainstay of our caches on the drift, with the odd codling, coalie and mini specie. Anchor work being rewarded with a decent amount of tope, huss and thornback rays both days with spurdog added to todays tally. More photos in Gallery 213

Change of plans

We had a last minute change of duration from 10hrs to 8hrs today as a couple of the crew needed to be in at 6pm before they turned into pumpkins! This sadly took our planned travel to the deeps out of the equation. A quick rethink, drifting then an anchor to try for rays. Fortunately the change of plan worked and we caught a good number of small thornback rays averaging 6lb and also good few small tope, together with a decent number of huss and dogs plus a solitary smoothie. All round good fun day afloat More photos in […]
