Lovely chilled time inshore on Tuesday plenty caught – pollack, wrasse and codling on the drift, with our anchor throwing up whiting, dogs, mackerel and plenty of huss and thornback rays etc.   Highlight for me a lovely plump male cuckoo wrasse for Will.

A hard morning came good in the end last Monday for our first venture offshore for the season. Stronger winds than forecast, big seas and the first couple wrecks not giving up the fish was making for a difficult trip. Thankfully the winds eased, tide turned and out third wreck gave up plenty of pollack and the odd small coalfish to fill the cool boxes. More photos in Gallery 273

Having been all but sidelined by the weather during or trip to Scotland last week we received a last minute call from our skipper there was a small change in wind and we had the potential for a day afloat.  Like myself Paul, likes to explore new marks and despite 25knots forecast, a new mark with potential was a possibility.  We we’re invited aboard Sea Dog cost free to help prosper and determine the potential. We’ve enjoyed a good weekend afloat, mixed fishing on the drift and at anchor.  Saturday, we had a run around the coast rewarded with more rays than we could count, along with plenty of huss and a selection of smaller species at anchor.  Drifting we caught pollack, ballan wrasse and cuckoo wrasse. Sunday was another mixed day, this time staying more local and having our first try at the smoothhounds.
