MAD-SAC Madness

Fantastic day afloat with Meltham * Distric SAC on Sunday. A small species and points competition between the lads so them concentrate on whiting, dogs and dabs etc for the first couple hrs until the rays started feeding. A good number of thornback rays were caught averaging 8lb with the largest just into double figures at 10lb 4oz. More photos in Gallery 241 We have now relocated to Holyhead and look forward to the superb fishing through spring into early Autmn that were accustomed to.

More Menai

Today should have seen our first sail having returned to Holyhead for the spring summer season. Strong winds all week have kept us in Port Dinorwic and a changeable forecast for the weekend gave us something to ponder Our crew today (06th April) opted for a sail from Port Dinorwic and enjoy some fishing outside the Menai Strait in Caernarfon Bay and some shelter from the east winds. Plenty of fish from a range of species that included whiting, dabs and dogfish amongst others on the small bait and a good amount of rays and huss on the bigger rigs […]

Last trip from Menai March 2019

We struggled with a few hrs of slow fishing inshore yesterday but it soon turned into spurdog madness when we headed out to deeper water as the tide slackened. A good mixed bag of species topped off with a plentiful amount of spurs from a few lb to 17lb caught by everyone.  Great fishing, great company, great chicken curry ( with plenty of chicken, thanks Neil ) and some lovey weather enjoyed for the time of year.  Now it’s back to Holyhead and the great fishing on offer over the next 6months

Something new

A first for Norman and My Way 2 yesterday, a 5 bearded rockling. Normally found close in under rocks and breakwaters the 5 bearded rockling is on the mini species list and doesn’t grow more than a few ounces in weight.   Plenty of whiting with dogfish and dabs to the boat in addition Oliver’s birthday so mum brought a red velvet cheesecake too 😁.

Fun fishing

Enjoyable few days afloat just gone with some fine weather especially yesterday with light wind and sunshine. Fishing was slow at times and hectic others. Sadly nothing to break any records but a generally steady stream of whiting, codling, dabs and a few other species keeping us busy. Great seeing friends when afloat on the Menai Strait, they often manage a few great photos of My Way 2
