After all the wind of late it was lovely to set sail on only our 2nd Menai adventure today. Calm seas, no wind and sunshine on the cards. A regular crew, chasing species were rewarded with a steady stream of fish through the day that included dogs & whiting, with huss, thornback, corkwing, ballan, rock goby and a LSSS making up the catch. Great crew to spend the day with, glorious weather for a change and a few laughs. And big thanks to Dolben for starting our day with a Double sausage & egg McMuffin and cheesey bacon flatbread for […]

Fantastic time back aboard My Way 2 last Sunday, glorious sunshine and a superb crew of misfits. Weather gods looked after us as we caught a good number of rays and spurdogs, along with doggies, dabs, small huss and a lonely whiting. Great fun, now looking forward to our return to Holyhead for our 2022 season this coming Friday.

We had our last trip of 2021 earlier this week. We caught whiting, whiting, a few more whiting and whiting. Chadwick spoilt the day by adding an eel to our catch. A lovely calm day on the Menai Strait, with a brilliant crew of danglers. It has been yet another difficult year for everyone, the pandemic and the mad world we wake up to each day tests our resilience. Truth is I couldn’t have made it without you all, it’s been another epic year aboard My Way 2. We’ve kept safe, we’ve caught fish and we really […]

With the recent storm over we’ve enjoyed a couple of days afloat on the Menai Strait. Sunday was a slower day with whiting dogs the odd huss and a solitary conger taking the baits. Yesterday the fish fed well. Armed with some good quality mackerel and squid it started off with whiting and dogs keeping us busy as we waited for the turn of tide and a move down the Strait for potential huss and conger. Fortunately neither disappointed. With only a few lads on I even managed a full days fishing myself, including 4 strap eels and a dozen […]

Winter season and having been in lockdown for the last 3 months My Way 2 is in need of a spruce before our return to HSC & Holyhead Marina. Massive thanks to Ged and everyone at Port Dinorwic for their assistance, not forgetting my good buddy Mark Francis, thanks to you all. A few days of scrubbing, polishing and antifoul ahead of our summer season at Holyhead.

We’ve enjoyed some good trips lately. This winter, the Menai Strait has fished extremely well. As I always say, it won’t set the world alight, winter for us is a case of shorter trips, catch a few fish and have a laugh with fellow anglers. Whiting tend to make up the bulk of the catch, with dogs, huss, dab and mini species the other catches as we fish through December into January. With the right tide and conditions we also target conger eels. After a morning filling the buckets with some good sized whiting, we headed off to a deep […]

Top Really enjoyable day afloat last Saturday, despite the wind and rain early on for our first Pure Fishing Fun Competition for the winter season. As normal for winter on the Menai plenty of whiting etched onto the scorecard to start with, followed by dogfish, pout, huss and a small 5 bearded rockling. Amassing the most points, top rod for the day was Holyhead angler Kieran Welsh, choosing a versatile PENN Fishing Squadron Touch Tip rod as his prize. Great fun and a great feeling to be afloat again after lockdown and spring tide blues More […]
