Thoroughly enjoyable morning afloat on the Menai Straits on saturday, despite the odd downpour! For the first of our Pure Fishing winter fun competitions, the guys and young lady recorded a good 150 fish during the 4hrs Fishing. Catches included some good size whiting, dogfish, small codling, mini species and a solitary huss. Congratulations to overall winner Chris Firth who won a brand new Shakespeare Agility 2 20lb boat rod for his winning bag. Thanks as always to our sponsors Pure Fishing. Lovely day afloat last Sunday one the rain has stopped! Good mix of species that included whiting codling pollack pout coalfish poorcod herring plus a good few huss to 6lb, but it was patchy at times despite trying a few different marks. Few codling to 2lb started to come in at one stage but stopped just as quickly as they started. Think we need the temperatures to drop a couple more degrees. More photos to follow

We’ve had a good few days afloat for our first trips fishing within the beautiful Menai Straits. Weather for the best part was good, the forecast never allowed us to exit the straits and fish further afield but despite a 20mph wind blowing, the sheltered waters of the Menai left a calm and comfortable water to fish on. The rain on Sunday morning though wasn’t the best, relentless for a good few hours before the sun came out and brightened up the day. Fishing was fairly consistent throughout, with a few leaner periods over slack water. The majority of catches […]

Enjoyable first day afloat in the Menai Straits today. A good few fish caught by most 😉 nothing to rewrite any records but a steady flow including a good few double figure huss 😁. Species caught dogfish, whiting, dabs, huss, cod, pollack, poor cod, sea scorpion and a few mackerel. Was also nice to see this large family of swans paddle passed us. The Menai Straits fishes well but is also blessed with superb scenery and nature to marvel at.
