Fish will be the masters

The day came good. Struggled through the first few wrecks again on Friday despite heading in a different direction than previous days. But thankfully wreck number four decided to deliver. Plenty of pollack being caught, lower average than normal but a good few around the 8lb weight too.  To quote a friend recently “the fish will always be masters”  But it’s good to report the bad days and not just the good days Great laugh, sunshine, calm seas and a few good fish. Another enjoyable day afloat.   More photos in Gallery 253 Wreck Fishing 2020 Please message or call […]

Hands across the sea

Another hard day afloat on Wednesday. Plenty of fish showing but not feeding so well, the few we managed to winkle out coughing up sandeels. Was a pleasure to meet up with Kit Dunne today from Wicklow Boat Charters in Ireland. We’ve often discussed meeting up in the Irish Sea, two charters from two countries and having a fish together. We’ve been friends for many years and met up initially on the International Match fishing scene. Kit proudly representing Ireland and myself likewise for the Welsh National Team. After a few cancellations with weather we managed it at last. We’re […]

Settled weather

Hard morning but a great afternoon today. The first few wrecks giving up just 1 pollack for our 2 and a half hrs fishing. Fortunately the last couple fished well and we managed to fill the fish boxes with prime pollack More photos in Gallery 253 Please share:

This weather!

The weather this summer can be best described as appalling. Sadly we’ve had to cancel far more trips than we’ve sailed. Fortunately when we have set sail the fishing has been good. Holyhead Deep has been loaded with pack tope and huss with the odd spurdog. In the bay today a great mixed bag including tope to 42lb. Inshore trips we’ve had a variety of species at anchor & on the drift. Best inshore codling went 5lb and pollack to 4lb. Last Friday was the first Pure Fishing Sponsored fun match for a long while, plenty of species including rays, […]

Plenty of huss

I was surprised to learn this week that bull huss are classed as threatened in certain areas. Scientists need to come study them around Anglesey where they are thriving. Mixed bag again on Friday and a plentiful amount of good fat huss for most onboard. More photos in Gallery 238 Please share:

Weather window

We managed to relaunch My Way this week, already for late Autumn and Winter afloat. A strong onshore wind forecast for the morning abated by lunchtime and allowed us to set sail looking for some small sharks to tag. We were joined by Will Millard, a writer, expedition leader and popular BBC presenter. Many reading this article know of Will from his excellent programs. The most recent include My Year With The Tribe, Hidden Cardiff and The River Wye. If you’ve not seen them I’d urge you to check them out, fascinating stuff. Will is presenting a new program for […]
