Shark Fishing

Fantastic day last Thursday shark fishing. We managed to raise two into our chum trail. The video ( thanks to Graham ) the first to appear, but no hook up. An hr later a bigger porbeagle hit a bait and stripped line at a rate of knots. As the wind picked up to 20knots, it made for hard work for the crew to keep in contact with the shark whilst I manoeuvred the boat in between swells. A 90minute tussle, a run around the boat, 4 leader touches and finally we could take a few snaps and release after recovery […]

Species Hunting

It’s not all about big fish, searching out all manner of species both big and small is great fun. We had a fantastic time fishing around the Pier wall in Trefor last week searching for mini species.  The fish were plentiful. 8ft of clear water we watched in awe as the fish swam below us in great numbers.  Common Blenny, Rock Goby, Corwking Wrasse, Lesser Weaver, small Pollack and small Whiting. Brilliant fun on very light gear and tiny hooks. More photos in Gallery 271

Spring tides

The spring tides last week saw our fishing restricted to closer inshore marks. Drifting wasn’t as good as I had hoped, both the wrasse and small pollack were few. Anchor worked proved better, with a plentiful amount of rays, huss a few small tope and many others.  More photos in Gallery 271

Busy Sept

We’ve enjoyed some great weather of late, limiting our updates as we’re out fishing. A trip offshore earlier in the month resulted oil a another bumper day of freezer filling for the guys aboard My Way 2. Boxes filled with fish, mainly pollack with the odd codling and coalfish too. Menai Wrecking

It was an interesting start to the day yesterday for our first trip from Port Dinorwic for 2020.   It was an excellent forecast with the weather gods looking kindly upon us for a change. 8am sail though in the thickest fog I’ve witnessed for a long while.   It did clear up within half an hour and left us with gloriously calm seas and sunshine for our 2hr steam off to the wrecks. Fish came aboard from the start, slow for the first half hour as the tide started to run, then it was a continual haul of pollack […]

Back on the Menai for autumn & winter

The weather this last month has been woeful, hence last Sunday we decided after our trip to run the boat around to Port Dinorwic on the Menai Strait a little earlier than planned for the 2020 winter season.   With the shelter of the Strait we would at least be able to enjoy some great fishing whilst the wind blew. Sunday Funday

We had a good day last Sunday as the winds dropped and allowed us to enjoy some good inshore fishing. On the drift we managed a plentiful amount of wrasse and pollack to 3lb. Great sport on light gear.  An anchor inshore before heading off to the deeps we managed a good mixed bag including a nice 30lb tope for Mersey Angler Mickey Duff Holyhead Deep was disappointing again compared to the usual frantic fishing. We did manage a good number of huss, with a few tope but no spurdogs again! More photos in Gallery 261 Bookings for 2021 aboard My […]

Happy September

September is the time of year offshore when the fishing slows down. Earlier this week we managed another trip to the wrecks with some great results. The last few wrecking trips have always yielded plenty of pollack but with the average size down slightly on the prime June – Aug trips.  However on our most recent trips we managed to keep a fairly respectable 8lb average for the day and fill the boxes with prime fillets of fish. Great fishing and weather enjoyed by all afloat on My Way 2 More photos in Gallery 261 Bookings for 2021 aboard My Way […]
