After a week of high winds it has been good to get back afloat and enjoy some settled seas and good tope fishing. The tope have been around in numbers both in Holyhead Deep and the shallower waters around our coast. We’ve enjoyed sunshine, great crew and great fishing. More photos in Gallery 276

Tope aboard My Way
Whilst the wind blows 50mph+ outside today, its hard not to get disheartened with the constant barrage of bad weather. However sifting through photographs today from this years fishing, you quickly remember the many great days we had afloat. Our tope fishing kicked off in April this year, when fishing for spurdogs and local rod Iwan pictured above, was fortunate to land three 25lb+ tope during the session. Today’s windy weather job list includes more of our popular tope and spurdog paternoster rigs. Tied with 100lb mono body and 80lb wire biting trace, the 5/0 semi circle hooks include our new red and luminous head muppets Check out these rigs and more at the GO Tackle website Yesterday we had ledger booms to make. Some as running booms and others rigged with mono, swivels and links.

Inshore fishing on Thursday 06th Apr was great fun, but the deeps let us down with only big huss to the hooks, so a change of venue was called for he following day. After a mixed bag inshore on Friday 07th Apr, it was time for a delicious beef casserole, thanks to Dawn. Next, the drift and we were rewarded with plenty of good sized pollack for April. Tope is the most abundant large shark native to the British Isles. They generally have a light grey top and white belly area; however some tope have been caught with a dark topside. Tope are live bearing with a normal litter size of between 6 and 30pups, usually around the 20 mark.
